A few little word delights for you on this cloudy friday afternoon (I hope you have sun wherever you find yourself!). Enjoy your weekend, curl up with a good book, float down a river, listen to a song, kiss someone on the cheek and hold the one that loves you close.
The Polaris Music Prize announced today their short list for the 2009 prize. This is a music award annually given to the best full-length Canadianalbum based on artistic merit, regardless of genre, sales, or record label.

Calgary/Toronto based Reverie Sound Revuehasn't put out an album since their 2003 ep, but June 23, 2009 we were finally delighted to have their highly anticipated album released!
There are no plans to tour, but a compromise has been reached.
They will release an acoustic video at the beginning of each week, for the next 6 weeks. The first one ("Arrows") can be found here. The second one ("Off Rooftops") can be found here. To find out where the next one will be, keep checking their myspace or website.
It's been a bit of a crazy week. With Canada Day, early morning meetings, breakfasts, etc... I've been missing my dear blog. So here is a little treat from WLWL magazine.
On Saturday, we had the privilege of being a part of Market Collective in Calgary. Our idea was simple; we set up a "photo booth" and asked everyone that visited the same question: "What do you like? What do you love?" They then wrote their answers on a chalkboard and we snapped a photo. Cute and easy. It was such a fun day, and we met amazing people.
Here is a teaser of the photos we got from the day. Don't worry– these will definitely make the next issue of WLWL, so you can look at them all closely there!
To all my American readers-- Happy Independence Day!
We'll talk more Monday. New music and visual delights to come!
This weekend, WLWL magazine was a part of Market Collective's one year anniversary, and as a result I was fortunate to meet many amazing people. One of these people was Brock Mitchell-- who is one half of a new project in Calgary: Shot at the Dark. Shot at the Dark is inspired by the experimentation of how music interacts with people and the acoustics of the environment. This project reminds me of Vincent Moon's Take Away Shows.
Shot at the Dark finds it's home on Calgary is Awesome and will showcase local Calgary musicians. Here is the first video featuring Reuben Bullock, the other half of Shot at the Dark.
